The introduction of solid foods to the diet is a milestone for parents and their child and the first step to developing good eating habits. There is a lack of clear guidance on when and how to introduce complementary foods and while better guidance is slowly being developed, parents are searching for clear guidance in this area. This is the case for infants born both at term and preterm.

Latest evidence indicates that age of introduction of foods, type of foods and variety all influence the development of food preferences and ultimately eating habits, indicating how important it is to get the right messages.
